“‘But he gives more grace.’ Therefore it says, ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.”
Prayer
O God of all grace and glory, I come before You trembling and thankful—trembling because You are holy, and thankful because You bow low to revive the humble. Today I lay down every fragment of pride, every hidden corner of self-reliance, every stubborn argument that rises against Your Lordship. I confess that apart from Your mercy, my heart drifts, my motives compromise, and my life leans toward self. But You give more grace. You give the kind of grace that breaks chains, opens eyes, and makes the heart tender again.
Lord, I draw near—not casually, but desperately. I wash my hands in repentance and ask You to purify the thoughts, desires, and intentions of my heart. Let every divided affection be consumed by holy fire. Let mourning for sin produce repentance unto life. Let the heaviness of conviction become the doorway into renewal. I humble myself in Your sight, trusting that You Yourself will raise up every area of my life that truly belongs to You.
Father, I pray for my family: Awaken in us a spirit of lowliness, unity, and yieldedness. Let no prideful word take root, no rebellious attitude remain unchallenged, no self-filled ambition stand against Your will. Raise a household marked by tenderness toward Your Spirit.
I intercede for the Church: Break our confidence in strategies, personalities, and platforms. Lead us into holy grief over our idols, our divisions, and our
complacency. Give Your people the grace to draw near with clean hands and purified hearts.
And for our nation: Let humility become the cry of this land. Bring leaders, communities, and generations to bow low before the One who alone lifts up. Let this soil tremble with repentance until revival springs forth.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
