Desire for One Thing

“One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.”

— Psalm 27:4 WEB

Prayer

O God of glory, I come before You with a tremble of holy longing in my chest. You are the One thing my soul desires above all—above answers, above blessings, above outcomes. I lift my voice like one awakening from spiritual sleep and I declare: Revive in me a singular pursuit of Your beauty. Let this longing spread into my home, my church, and throughout my nation until a generation rises whose deepest craving is simply You.

Father, break every distraction that wars against beholding Your splendor. Tear down lesser affections that compete for the throne of my heart. Give me the grace of a steady gaze—fixed, unbroken, anchored in the presence of the Lord. Let my family become a dwelling place where You are welcomed, where Your voice is honored, and where Your nearness is treasured more than the noise of this world.

Lord, raise up within the Church a holy discontent with superficial religion. Birth a movement of seekers—men, women, and children who run past the outer courts and into the brilliance of Your glory. Let leaders fall on their knees again. Let congregations rediscover the wonder of worship. Let saints linger in Your beauty until Your presence reshapes our priorities.

Over this nation, I cry out: awaken us to the majesty of God! Sweep away apathy, idolatry, pride, and performance. Replace them with hunger, trembling awe, and deep affection for the Holy One. Let Your beauty melt hardened hearts and bring forth repentance, unity, and consecration.

Lord, as I behold You, transform me. Let my life become a prophetic sign that testifies: there is nothing more beautiful, nothing more satisfying, nothing more

worthy than the living God. May revival begin with my gaze and ripple outward—family to church, church to nation—until Your glory fills the land.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
