Streams of Gladness

Series: Unshaken

There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the tents of the Most High.

— Psalm 46:4 WEB

Prayer

Father, I come before You with full awareness that You are not distant from me in my weakness. You are near, and where You are, there is life. I thank You that Your presence is not empty consolation, but a flowing river of gladness, renewal, and strength. Let that river move through me now. Let it run through places in me that have grown tired from strain, burdened by long battles, and dulled by disappointment. Where joy has been buried under pressure, let Your presence awaken it again.

I confess that there have been seasons when my heart has felt more like a closed room than a living city. Yet Your Word declares that Your streams make glad the place where You dwell. Dwell richly in me, and let what belongs to Your presence become visible in my inner life. Wash through anxious thoughts. Soften hardened emotions. Quiet the unrest that has tried to settle into my soul. I receive from You not only protection from what surrounds me, but refreshment for what is happening within me.

Let Your gladness rise stronger than fear. Let Your peace become deeper than the noise around me. Let Your Spirit move with holy gentleness through every chamber of my heart, driving out stagnation, exhaustion, and inward heaviness. I ask You to restore spiritual vitality where weariness has lingered. Restore expectancy where delay has numbed me. Restore tenderness where pressure has made me guarded. Restore joy where sorrow has overstayed its season.

I speak Your life over my mind, my emotions, my body, and my home. Let Your river flow into my family, into every conversation, into every burden we carry, and into every place that has felt tense or depleted. I ask for sacred renewal that reaches beyond a moment of relief and becomes a sustained work of grace in us. Make our dwelling a place of gladness because You are there. Make our hearts responsive because You are speaking. Make us fruitful because You are watering what belongs to You.

I refuse the lie that depletion will define me. I refuse the fear that weariness will have the final word. You are the God who brings life where strength has been drained. You are the God whose presence renews from the inside out. So I welcome Your river. I welcome Your flowing, Your healing, Your replenishing, and Your holy calm. Let every stream of Your presence do its full work in me until my heart is glad in You again, steady in You again, and strong in You again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
