Evil Cannot Rewrite Grace

Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today. Now therefore don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

Prayer

Father, I come before You with the parts of my story that still ache. You know every betrayal, every hidden injustice, every opportunity that seemed buried by another person’s choices. I refuse to pretend that evil was good, but I also refuse to believe that evil has become my master. You alone are Judge, Redeemer, and Keeper of my life. I surrender the need to control the outcome, and I place every unanswered question beneath Your wisdom.

Search my heart and uncover any bitterness, resentment, or secret desire for revenge that has taken root. Forgive me for replaying offenses until pain became an identity. Cleanse my motives and teach me to forgive as I have been forgiven in Christ. Give me courage to establish wise boundaries where trust has been broken, and keep me from confusing reconciliation with permission for repeated harm. Let truth and mercy govern every response.

I renounce every agreement with the lie that what was stolen can never be redeemed. The enemy will not use yesterday’s wound to rob today’s obedience. By the grace of Jesus, I receive freedom from shame, fear, and the paralysis of disappointment. Restore soundness to my thoughts, tenderness to my spirit, and steadiness to my decisions. Where loss has weakened my confidence, rebuild me upon Your character rather than changing circumstances.

Work Your redemptive purpose through my life and family. Preserve what You have entrusted to me, heal relationships that can be healed, and provide wisdom for those that must remain at a distance. Let my household be free from inherited bitterness and cycles of retaliation. Teach us to speak kindly, act justly, and refuse the enemy access through unforgiveness. Use even the lessons of suffering to make us compassionate, discerning, and faithful.

I trust You with the form and timing of restoration. I will not demand that every chapter return exactly as it was; I ask instead that nothing be wasted in Your hands. Recover peace where turmoil entered, purpose where discouragement settled, and generosity where hurt once hardened me. May my life testify that darkness did not have the final word, because Christ has redeemed me and Your goodness still leads me forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
