“Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house forever.”
Prayer
O Shepherd of my soul, we come before You as Your beloved ones, wrapped in Your tenderness and upheld by Your endless care. As new parents, we stand in awe of Your presence that surrounds this sacred assignment of nurturing a precious life. Let Your gentle leading become the rhythm of our home, the atmosphere of our hearts, and the foundation upon which this new season rests. Let Your peace replace every anxious thought, and let Your whisper still every fear.
Lord, You make us lie down in the pastures of Your rest, even when our bodies are tired and sleep feels scarce. You restore our souls when emotions swirl, when postpartum fatigue presses in, or when the weight of responsibility feels overwhelming. Breathe Your renewing strength into us. Let Your Spirit refresh us like still waters flowing through weary hearts. Wrap our minds and bodies in supernatural recovery and renewal.
You guide us in paths of righteousness, even in the mundane routines—feeding, soothing, changing, comforting, rising again and again. Let every act of love become a prophetic planting into this child’s destiny. Let Your wisdom flow through us as we make choices, set rhythms, build routines, and create an environment of peace. Keep us steady, anchored, and aligned with Your purposes for motherhood.
Even when shadows arise—moments of uncertainty, feelings of inadequacy, emotional dips, or unexpected challenges—teach us to fear no evil. You are with us. Your rod protects, Your staff directs. Your presence becomes our courage and our calm. Prepare a table of joy before us despite exhaustion or pressure. Anoint our heads with oil—oil of fresh strength, joy, and clarity.
Let goodness and lovingkindness saturate our home all the days of our lives. May this new stage in our family be marked by dwelling in Your presence, walking in Your nurturing love, and raising this child under the canopy of Your compassionate leadership.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
